HMS Lowestoft was a British Grimsby Class escort sloop of 990 tons displacement launched in 1934. She was armed with two 4.7-inch guns; one 3-inch anti-aircraft gun; two 3-pounder guns and ten machine-guns. Two Admiralty 3-drum type boilers provided a top speed of 16.5 knots and she carried a complement of 100.
