Lysander was an ancient Greek general who was appointed to the command of the Spartan fleet off the coasts of Asia Minor in 407 BC, during the Peloponnesian war. In 405 BC he defeated and captured the Athenian fleet off AEgospotamos, and thus put an end to the war. He was killed in a battle with the Thebans in 395 BC.
