
Jaggayyapeta was named after Jaggayya, (died 1771) the ruler of Chintapalli, Krishna district, India, from 1763-1771. The original name was Bethavolu. The place is famous for a Buddhist Stupa built during Satavahana Dynasty (200 BC).
