The red grape variety (also Chataqua) is an open flowered seedling of the Concord. It contains genes from Vitis labrusca and Vitis vinifera (?). The hybrid was selected in the USA in 1892 by the private breeder H. T. Bashtite. The variety is used as table grape. In 2016 no stock was reported (statistics Kym Anderson)
