The vendace (Coregonus vandesius) is a fresh-water member of the salmon family, which is nearly related to the pollan, but is confined to Lochmaben in Scotland. It is 15 centimetres long, brownish in colour, with a red heart- shaped mark between the eyes and has a slightly protruding lower jaw.
