In certain fungi: a structure within which male reproductive cells (spermatia) are formed. In rust fungi, a spermagonium is called a pycnium. (Pl. spermagonia.) 
A flask-shaped, fruiting body of the rust fungi in which the gametes or gametangia are produced.
