Any packet or frame in packet data system which is longer than usual is informally described as a `jumbo` (after Jumbo the elephant in Regent's Park Zoo many years ago). Often the size will be by comparison with a default or de facto MTU (Maximum transmission unit) on a type of communications link. IPv6 uses `jumbo` formally in the standard. A `jumbogram` is an IPv6 packet containing a payload longer than 65,535 octets (see RFC 2675) but the default MTU size for IPv6 packets on an Ethernet is 1500 octets (see RFC 1972).
