Hippophagy is the practice of feeding on horse flesh. Hippophagi was the name given by old geographers to certain nomadic Scythian tribes on the north of the Caspian Sea, who fed on horse flesh. Horse flesh has been eaten for a considerable time in Germany some countries of Eastern Europe, and it was first regularly sold in Paris in 1866.
