VUV

(vacuum ultraviolet) The VUV is the portion of the UV spectrum below 190 nm. Electromagnetic radiation below 190nm is absorbed by oxygen in air. Physical or chemical interactions requiring VUV radiation must be performed in a nitrogen purged environment down to 160nm or in a vacuum chamber below 160nm.
