Utahraptor (meaning `Utah`s predator`) is a genus of theropod dinosaurs. It contains a single species, Utahraptor ostrommaysorum, which is the largest known member of the family Dromaeosauridae. (pronounced YOO-tah-RAP-tor) Utahraptor was a large, terrifying predator with 9-inch-long toe claws. This early dromaeosaurid dinosaur was about 16-23 feet (5-7 m) long and dates from the mid-Cretaceous period , about 125 million years ago.
