(pronounced YOO-tah-RAP-tor) Utahraptor was a large, terrifying predator with 9-inch-long toe claws. This early dromaeosaurid dinosaur was about 16-23 feet (5-7 m) long and dates from the mid-Cretaceous period , about 125 million years ago. Fossils of this meat-eater were found in eastern Utah, USA in 1991. The type species is U. ostrommaysi.
