Teratosaurus A 'monster lizard' from Late Triassic Europe (Germany). Named by naturalist Christian Erich Hermann von Meyer in 1961. It is not considered a dinosaur. When it was first discovered by British anatomist Sir Richard Owen in 1841, it was thought to be a dinosaur. It was named for the large powerful teeth in part of an upper jaw.
