Swellendam is the fourth oldest town in the Republic of South Africa, a town with 17,537 inhabitants situated in the Western Cape province. The town has over 50 provincial heritage sites most of them buildings of Cape Dutch architecture. Swellendam

Winegrowing area (District) in South Africa that to the region Cape South Coast belongs. It is named after the city founded in 1743, whose name is derived from Cape Governor Hendrik Swellengrebel (1734-1803). There are the Wards Buffeljags, Malgas and Stormsvlei. Mainly bulk wines are produced by large cooperatives.
