A UTRA Radio Network Subsystem in the UMTS 3G system. Each RNC is a CRNC (Controlling RNC) to several base stations (called Node B in UTRA) via the Iub interface. The CRNC and its Node Bs is a RNS (Radio Network Subsystem). The GSM equivalent is a BSS (Base Station Subsystem). The RNS is connected to the CN (the UMTS core network) via the Iu interface.
