An oomiak is a long, broad boat used by the Innuit people for conveying their families and property during summer excursions and migrations. The oomiak is furnished with seats and propelled by oars. Parry's expedition of 1821 to 1823 reported encountering an oomiak which was 25 feet long, 8 feet wide and was carrying 21 women and children.
