(= nuclear factor of activated T-cells) Transcription factor involved in regulation of IL-2 and IL-4 gene transcription (in concert with other transcription factors). NFAT is cytoplasmic until dephosphorylated by calcineurin, a step that is inhibited by cyclosporin and FK506, then translocates to the nucleus.
