MOPS

(= morpholino-propane sulphonic acid) A ‘biological` buffer; a synthetic zwitterionic compound with a pKa of 7.2, that is non-toxic and has a low temperature coefficient. Widely used in biochemical studies, largely as a replacement for phosphate buffers.
