
(= endoplasmic reticulum associated binding protein) Protein (262 residues, 27 kD) in the ER that binds amyloid b ( A b) . Found ubiquitously but more extensively in liver, heart and brain. Overexpressed in brain of patients with Alzheimer&`s disease and it may be the complex between A b and ERAB that is cytotoxic. Sequence has similarities with short-chain alcohol dehydrogenases, hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases and acetoacyl CoA reductases.
