The red grape variety comes from Portugal. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown. A. Cabral is mentioned as the breeder, so it could be a new breed. The variety is grown in small quantities in the Centro and Norte regions. In 2016, a total of 2 hectares of vine area was designated (Kym Anderson).
