A caique (named from the Turkish word for a boat, qaiq) is a small skiff or rowing boat. The term is especially given to a light skiff formerly used in the Bosporus, where it once almost monopolized the boat traffic. A caique may have from one to ten or twelve rowers. The name is also given to a Levantine vessel of a larger size.
