mesiodens (s), mesiodentes (pl) A centrally placed upper supernumerary tooth. The most common supernumerary (extra) tooth, appearing singly or in pairs as a small tooth with a cone-shaped crown and a short root between the maxillary central incisors; it may be erupted, impacted, or even inverted.
