Gueux logo #21217Gueux was a name given in derision to the allied nobles and other malcontents in the Netherlands, who resisted the despotism of Philip II, in 1566-1567. The Count of Barlaimont having termed the malcontents Gueux, they adopted the name, and a suitable badge called the 'beggar's denier.' They were totally dispersed in 1567.
