
This is a method of sending messages via a computer communications link such as a network or the Internet. The advantages of e-mail are that it is quick (as long as the addressee 'logs on' to the system frequently) and once the system has been paid for, the cost of sending a message is cheap in the sense that stamps and envelopes are not necessary.
