The process of setting a tariff for a particular service. Tariffing policy is vital for both marketing and engineering reasons. For example, market share may be increased by easily understandable tariffs using approaches such as bundling, ARPU may be increased by low tariffs but AMPU (average margin per user) may be decreased, billing processes may become more difficult if tariffs favour short calls which generate large CDR volumes , network or cell QoS and capacity may be affected by abrupt changes in tariff from peak to off-peak.
