  3. Space time
(chemical engineering) `Space time` (or `space-time`) is the time necessary to process one reactor volume of fluid, given a particular set of entrance conditions. Commonly represented by the Greek letter Ï„, it is obtained by dividing the reactor volume by the volumetric flow rate entering the reactor. External links:

  8. space-time
space-time, central concept in the theory of relativity that replaces the earlier concepts of space and time as separate absolute entities. In relativity one cannot uniquely distinguish space and time as elements in descriptions of events. Space and time are joined together in an intimate combinatio...

  9. Space-Time
The four-dimensional continuum including the three dimensions of space (length, width and height) and one of time; the unity of space and time. The concept was first suggested by H. Minkowski and immediately afterward incorporated by A. Einstein into his (special) theory of relativity. The former co...

  10. space-time
In physics, combination of space and time used in the theory of relativity. When developing relativity, Albert Einstein showed that time was in many respects like an extra dimension (or direction) to space. Space and time can thus be considered as entwined into a single entity, rather than two separate things. Space-time is considered to have f...

  17. Spacetime
Space has three dimensions. However, the theory of relativity predicts that time, like space, is a dimension. In order to describe a four dimensional universe which has three spatial dimensions and one time dimension the word 'spacetime' was coined. Each point in spacetime is called an event.

13 February 2012

This day in history:
The fifth queen of Henry VIII was Catherine Howard. Her father was very poor, and Catherine lived mainly with Agnes, widow of the 2nd duke of Norfolk. Henry was evidently charmed by her and he was privately married to Catherine at Oatlands in July 1540. In November 1541 Archbishop Thomas Cranmer informed Henry that his queen's past life had not been stainless. After some denials the queen herself admitted that this was true; but denied that she had misconducted herself since her marriage. Some fresh information, however, very soon came to light showing that she had been unchaste since her marriage; a bill of attainder was passed through parliament, and on the 13th of February 1542 the queen was beheaded. read more
