  3. Antinode
For a particular mode of vibration, a line around the bell parallel to the rim, or a line from rim to crown, where the amplitude of the vibration is maximum. See also nodal circle and nodal line.

  4. Antinode
Point of maximum displacement. The location may change with time and frequency for complex systems. If dealing with sound waves, this is the point where the sound is the loudest. See also: Anti Resonance.

  8. antinode
antinode, antinodal 1. For a standing wave, the region or point of maximum amplitude between adjacent nodes in a standing wave. 2. A point, or region, of maximum amplitude of a wave characteristic in a system in which the wave form is stationary in time.

  9. antinode
in a medium where a standing wave exists, point at which the amplitude of a specified time-dependent quantity has a maximum value NOTE - If the antinode is not an isolated point, the terms 'antinodal line', 'antinodal point' or 'antinodal surface' are used.

  10. antinode
point, line or surface in a standing wave where some specified characteristic of the wave field has maximum amplitude NOTE - The appropriate modifier should be used before the word 'antinode' to signify the type that is intended; e.g. displacement antinode, particle velocity antinode, sound pressure antinode.

13 February 2012

This day in history:
The fifth queen of Henry VIII was Catherine Howard. Her father was very poor, and Catherine lived mainly with Agnes, widow of the 2nd duke of Norfolk.
