  2. Digital
(Lighting) The system used to convert the many outputs of a lighting desk into a single signal that can be transmitted over a small cable to the dimmer racks, thus saving an enormous weight and amount of lighting control cable.

  3. digital
[Adjective] Using an electronic signal to send information.
Example: Nowadays we live in a digital world.

  4. Digital
Data or voltages consisting of discrete steps or levels. Data which is expressed as numbers (digits) in computer readable form is said to be digital.

  5. digital
[adj] - displaying numbers rather than scale positions 2. [adj] - relating to or performed with the fingers 3. [adj] - (electronics) of a circuit or device that represents magnitudes in digits

  6. digital
Transmission of information through a signal that can take on only certain discrete values (e.g. a bit with values 0 or 1 or a modulation symbol with 2 or more values). Compare with analogue.
    Found on http://www.encyclo.co.uk/visitor-contrib

  7. Digital
Transmission of data using binary (0 & 1). A digital signal viewed with on oscilloscope is in the form of a square wave.
    Found on http://www.encyclo.co.uk/visitor-contrib

  8. Digital
Transmission of data using binary (0 & 1). A digital signal viewed with an oscilloscope is in the form of a square wave.
    Found on http://www.encyclo.co.uk/visitor-contrib

  9. Digital
(Digital cameras and photo printers) Opposite of analogue. Digital information is made up of a limited number of gradations (e.g. 256 colours, 8 bit). The change from one digital element to the next is always “step by step and not continuous.

  12. Digital
The phrase “digital audio recording is contrasted with “analog audio recording. Long-playing phonograph records are analog recordings and they capture information in a continuously-variable form. Digital, in contrast, involves binary numbers--1's and 0's. Digital encoding ...

  13. Digital
Digital can refer to electronic signals or to components of an electronic system. Digital signals have only two voltage levels, described as 'HI' and 'LO', or 'OFF' and 'ON'. In a real component, 'HI' might be represented by +5V d.c. and 'LO' by 0V d.c. A digital component is one which works with on...

  14. Digital
Designs and parts that represent exact values (usually 0 and 1, or FALSE and TRUE.). The type of electronics is also often know as Logic Circuits. See also Analogue. Note that even digital circuits represent their 'digital' values as analogues - e.g. a logic system might sense 0 as a voltage less th...

  15. Digital
Describes the use of digital pulses, signals or values to represent data in computer graphics, telecommunications systems and word processing.

  16. digital
Made of or using distinct digits or numerical values, rather than continuously variable values. Most often used to refer to information existing in electronic form as Ones and Zeroes.
    Found on http://www.encyclo.co.uk/local/20581

  17. Digital
A way of encoding information. On digital networks, data doesn`t need to go though the extra step of being converted to an analog signal, voice is sampled and coded in a way similar to how it is recorded on a CD. Digital networks are fast replacing analog ones as they offer improved sound quality, secure transmission and can handle data directly as…

  18. digital
Instead of sending the picture dot-by-dot, it is sent as a 'binary data-stream' which can include the entire picture every second or so, and a sequence of 'changes' in the interval, all of which is compressed. Additionally, sound and ancillary information (teletext, programme/station ID, date and ti...

  19. Digital
The use of Binary data to represent information, 'Binary' meaning that the data (audio, video, whatever) has been reduced to many values which have one of two states, positive and non positive. Positive is represented by 1, and non positve by 0. Each value is known as a 'bit'. For more on 'Digital' ...

  20. Digital
General term for all radio frequency wave signals that have been transformed into binary units of data (bits). The transformation of all video and audio signal information into bits is fundamental to expanding the opportunities for multimedia and convergent applications sharing the same output source (i.e. TV or PC screen).

13 February 2012

This day in history:
The fifth queen of Henry VIII was Catherine Howard. Her father was very poor, and Catherine lived mainly with Agnes, widow of the 2nd duke of Norfolk.
