Alamosaurus

Alamosaurus (s; meaning `Ojo Alamo lizard`) is a genus of titanosaurian sauropod dinosaurs, containing a single species, Alamosaurus sanjuanensis, from the late Cretaceous Period of what is now southern North America. It was a large quadrupedal herbivore. Isolated vertebrae and limb bones indicate that it reached sizes comparable to Argentinosau.....

Alamosaurus “Alamo lizard” from Late Cretaceous New Mexico, Utah, Texas, and Montana (USA). The Alamosaurus was named for the Ojo Alamo (“poplar tree”) trading post (and/or a spring) in New Mexico, not the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. Named by U. S. paleontologist Charles Whitney Gilmore in 1922.
