Sex-linked genetic defect that leads to the complete absence of immunoglobulins (IgG, IgM, and IgA) in the plasma as a result of the failure of pre-B cells to differentiate. Failure to produce a humoral antibody response leads to high incidence of opportunistic infections but cell-mediated immunity is unimpaired.
