(= guanosine 5'-triphosphate) Like ATP a source of phosphorylating potential, but is separately synthesized and takes part in a limited, distinct set of energy-requiring processes. Synthesis is by a substrate-linked phosphorylation involving succinyl coenzyme A, part of the tricarboxylic acid cycle. GTP is required in protein synthesis, the assembly of microtubules, and for the activation of regulatory G-proteins GTP-binding proteins.
Graduate Teacher Programme - this programme is designed to allow schools to employ unqualified teachers who are preparing for QTS assessment, assess them against the standards for the award of QTS, and devise individual training plans for them.
GPRS Transport Protocol - this protocol carries traffic within a GPRS network by tunnelling IP over UDP or X.25 over TCP. A variant of GTP carries traffic over the GRX (GPRS Roaming eXchange) between GPRS networks for roaming users. By contrast, the GPRS SNDCP carries IP and X.25 over the GPRS RAN (Radio Access Network).
