  1. Dynein
Dynein: A family of microtubule motor proteins that derive energy from ATP (adenosine triphosphatase) activity. The dyneins also form arms on the outer tubules of cilia and flagella. The dynein motor, a cellular complex believed to be composed of 12 distinct protein parts, performs fundamental trans...

  2. dynein
Large multimeric protein (600-800 kD) with ATPase activity; constitutes the side arms of the outer microtubule doublets in the ciliary axoneme and is responsible for the sliding. Probably (together with kinesin) involved in microtubule-associated movement elsewhere. Cytoplasmic dynein is MAP-Ic.

  6. dynein
Type: Term Pronunciation: dīn′ēn Definitions: 1. A protein associated with motile structures that exhibits adenosine triphosphatase activity; it forms 'arms' on the outer microtubules of cilia and flagella. It functions as a molecular motor.

  7. Dynein
`Dynein` is a motor protein (also called molecular motor or motor molecule) in cells which converts the chemical energy contained in ATP into the mechanical energy of movement. Dynein transports various cellular cargo by "walking" along cytoskeletal microtubules towards the minus-end of th...

13 February 2012

This day in history:
The fifth queen of Henry VIII was Catherine Howard. Her father was very poor, and Catherine lived mainly with Agnes, widow of the 2nd duke of Norfolk. After some denials the queen herself admitted that this was true; but denied that she had misconducted herself since her marriage. Some fresh information, however, very soon came to light showing that she had been unchaste since her marriage; a bill of attainder was passed through parliament, and on the 13th of February 1542 the queen was beheaded. read more
