Look up: Troposphere

  1. troposphere
The lower regions of a planetary atmosphere where convection keeps the gas mixed and maintains a steady increase of temperature with depth. Most clouds are in the troposphere.
    Found on http://www.solarviews.com/eng/terms.htm

  2. troposphere
The inner layer of the atmosphere below about 15 km, within which there is normally a steady decrease of temperature with increasing altitude. Nearly all clouds form and weather conditions manifest themselves within this region, and its thermal structure is caused primarily by the heating of the Ear...

  3. Troposphere
Lowest atmospheric layer, between the surface and tropopause.
    Found on http://www-v0ims.gsfc.nasa.gov/v0ims/glo

  4. Troposphere
The lowest part of the atmosphere, from the ground or ocean surface to about 10-15 km up. Noteworthy for containing the vast majority of atmospheric moisture, and the location of nearly all weather phenomena. Above is the stratosphere.
    Found on http://www.homepage.montana.edu/~geol445

  5. Troposphere
The lowest level of the atmosphere, from the ground upward to about 16 km at the equator and 11 km at the polar regions.

  6. troposphere
[n] - the lowest atmospheric layer
    Found on http://www.webdictionary.co.uk/definitio

  7. Troposphere
The lowest layer of the Earth's atmosphere, lying at an average height of up to 11km (6.5 miles). Above the troposphere lies the stratosphere, above that the ionosphere, above that the exosphere. In the troposphere the temperature drops steadily except for localised layers of temperture inversion.

  8. Troposphere
The region of the atmosphere closest to the Earth, extending from the surface up to about 10 km in altitude. Almost all weather takes place in the troposphere.

  9. troposphere
(Learning Modules / Geography / Weather forecasting) The lowest level of the atmosphere where weather forms. The troposphere is characterised by temperatures that decline as you go higher up.

  10. troposphere
Troposphere is the lowest part of the earth's atmosphere, extending to 110 km to 15 km above the surface. It is characterized by a decrease in temperature with increasing altitude. The exact height varies with latitude and season.

  11. Troposphere
The lowest part of the earths atmosphere, extending from the surface of the planet to the bottom of the stratosphere.

  13. Troposphere
The lower layer of the atmosphere in which the change of temperature with height is relatively large and decreases with an increase in height. The troposphere extends up to approximately 33,000ft.

  14. troposphere
the layer of the Earth's atmosphere about 10km from the surface. The air in the troposphere is well mixed and it is where the clouds are mostly to be found.

  15. troposphere
lower part of the terrestrial atmosphere, extending from the surface up to a height varying from about 9 km at the poles to about 17 km at the Equator, in which temperature decreases fairly regularly wi th height. Category: The cosmos

  18. Troposphere
The lowest layer of the atmosphere and contains about 95 percent of the mass of air in the Earth's atmosphere. The troposphere extends from the Earth's surface up to about 10 to 15 kilometers. All weather processes take place in the troposphere. Ozone that is formed in the troposphere plays a significant role in both the greenho...

14 February 2012

This day in history:
/calendar/ February 14 is Valentine's Day. Although it is celebrated as a lovers' holiday today, with the giving of candy, flowers, or other gifts between couples in love, it originated in 5th Century Rome as a tribute to St. Valentine, a Catholic bishop. The first Valentine card grew out of this practice. The first true Valentine card was sent in 1415 by Charles, duke of Orleans, to his wife. He was imprisoned in the Tower of London at the time. Cupid, another symbol of the holiday, became associated with it because he was the son of Venus, the Roman god of love and beauty. Cupid often appears on Valentine cards. read more
