Mizzling

A term used by Henry David Thoreau to describe weather combining thick mist and drizzle: a mizzling rain. North American usage may be peculiar to New England. Term is also found in Jane Austen's novel Northanger Abbey. (Thanks to Hal Noakes for the Austen information.)
