Fetal Blood Sampling

A prenatal test that screens blood from the umbilical cord for abnormalities while the fetus is in the uterus. The test is generally done between week 18 and 36 of a pregnancy. This test gathers fetal blood by guiding a needle into the umbilical vein. It is primarily used in addition to an ultrasound and amniocentesis if your health care provider .
