    Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a relatively rare inherited genetic disorder which affects the lungs and digestive system. Treatment is most effective when the disease is recognised early. Most children diagnosed with CF now reach early adulthood due to improvements in nutrition, physiotherapy and antibiotic treatment; some reach their forties and fifties.

This day in history:
On 10th February 1996, a computer, Deep Blue, beat Russian Garry Kasparov, the greatest chess player on the planet, and mankind’s place in the order of things was reshuffled. The match immediately became an iconic symbol of the advances made in artificial intelligence and supercomputing. Kasparov has since retired, like Deep Blue, which now resides in a museum.
