Look up: CMos

  1. CMOS
    Complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor.
    Found on http://www.windmill.co.uk/glossary.html

  2. CMOS
Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS). An image sensor used in some digital cameras. Its basic function is the same as the CCD. (see CCD)
    Found on http://www.peterashbyhayter.co.uk/glossa

  3. CMOS
    Coats-Mellon Operational Specification + Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor
    Found on http://www.encyclo.co.uk/visitor-contrib

  4. CMOS
(Digital cameras and photo printers) Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor. Light sensitive chip. Different to CCDs, the pixel elements on the CMOS are read individually.
    Found on http://www.olympus.co.uk/consumer/208_10

  5. CMOS
CMOS is a type of memory. CMOS stands for “complementary metal-oxide semiconductor, describing the physical arrangement of cells within the memory device. On a standard PC motherboard, CMOS is used to hold data that is accessed by BIOS Setup. The CMOS memory is maintained when the system is off by a battery backup.
    Found on http://www.mcsx.co.uk/glossary.php

  6. CMOS
Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor. This technology, and its many developments, offer extremely low current consumption in quiescent (i.e. unchanging) states, and has become a primary technology in the design of Integrated circuits for digital circuitry
    Found on http://www.vutrax.co.uk/glossary.htm

  7. CMOS
complementary metal oxide silicon (but you don't need to know that!) - a technology used to make computer chips - see also CMOS RAM (next)
    Found on http://www.archivemag.co.uk/

  8. CMOS
A type of chip able to operate with a tiny trickle of electricity from a battery. The term also refers to the contents of a CMOS chip on the motherboard, which holds information about the system and its peripherals even while the system is turned off. CMOS stands for Complementary Metal Oxide Substrate.
    Found on http://www.encyclo.co.uk/local/20581

  9. CMOS
(Complimentary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) Camcorder and digital camera sensor technology which, like a CCD, converts light into electrical signals. The benefits of CMOS are less smear, wider dynamic range for superior contrast and lower power consumption for efficient battery operation.
    Found on http://www.sony.co.uk/glossary/ShowGloss

  10. CMOS
    Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor
    Found on http://www.encyclo.co.uk/visitor-contrib

  11. CMOS
Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor. A MOS device containing both N-channel and P-channel MOS active elements. One of two basic processes (MOS and bipolar) used to fabricate integrated circuits.
    Found on http://www.ami.ac.uk/courses/topics/0100

  12. CMOS
(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) A sensor similar to CCD. CMOS semiconductors use two circuits, negative and positive polarity circuits. Because only one of the circuits can be on at once, CMOS chips are less energy consuming than other chips that utilize simply one type of transistor. This...

  13. CMOS
Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor, low power method (lower than NMOS) to make ICs.
    Found on http://www.encyclo.co.uk/local/20957

  14. CMOS
Acronym for 'Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor'. Pronounced 'sea moss'. The CMOS chip contains detailed information about that computer system and can be altered as the system is altered. The information is retained by the backup battery (q.v.)
    Found on http://www.encyclo.co.uk/visitor-contrib

  15. CMOS
    Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor
    Found on http://foldoc.org/CMOS

  16. CMOS
Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor: one of the two main types of image sensors used in digital cameras. Its basic function is the same as that of a CCD. CMOS sensors are currently found in only a handful of digital cameras.
    Found on http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using

  17. CMOS
Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor. A type of semiconductor that has been, until the EOS D30, widely unavailable for digital cameras. CMOS semiconductors use two circuits, negative and positive polarity circuits. Because only one of the circuits can be on at once, CMOS chips are less energy con...

12 February 2012

This day in history:
/calendar/ On February 12, 1809, Charles Robert Darwin was born at The Mount in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. Darwin was one of the last of the eclectic scientists who preceded the age of professional specialization. His genius lay in his ability to select, from the facts which he so diligently collected, every relevant point and fit it into his bold and far-reaching theories. He was not the first to advance a theory of evolution; but his massive weight of evidence carried conviction where earlier theorists had failed. He was shy and modest and shrank from controversy, an unfortunate trait in the author of the most controversial book of the century. read more
