  4. Becquerel
The Becquerel is a unit used to measure a radioactivity. One Becquerel isthat quantity of a radioactive material that will have 1 transformations inone second. As a result of having one Becquerel being equal to one transformationper second, there are 3.7x1010 Bq in one curie.ttle='Radioactivity';xiunt='Bq';yiunt='curie';mconv=3.7e10;ccon...

  6. becquerel
Becquerel (Bq) is the SI derived unit, with a special name, for radioactivity, equal to s-1. It describes a radioactivity of an amount of radionuclide decaying at the rate, on average, of one spontaneous nuclear transition per second. The unit is named after the French scientist A. H. Becquerel (1852-1908) (disintegrations per unit time), equal to ...

  11. Becquerel
The `becquerel` (symbol `Bq`) is the SI derived unit of radioactivity, defined as the activity of a quantity of radioactive material in which one nucleus decays per second. It is therefore equivalent to s-1. The older unit of radioactivity was the curie (Ci), defined as 3.7×1010 becquerels or 37 GBq. The becquerel is named for Henri Becquerel, who shared a Nobel Prize with Pierre and Marie Curie for their work in discovering radioactivity. ...

22 November 2009

This day in history:
On Friday, November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was shot as he rode in a motorcade through the streets of Dallas, Texas. At his death, the 35th president was 46 years old and had served less than three years in office. Despite this intimate experience of events surrounding the death of John F. Kennedy, the nation failed to achieve closure. Oswald never confessed, and the facts of the case remain mysterious. The Warren Commission's conclusion Oswald acted alone failed to satisfy the public. In 1976, the House of Representatives' Select Committee on Assassinations reopened investigation of the murder. The Committee reported that Lee Harvey Oswald probably was part of a conspiracy that may have involved organized crime. read more
