Aging Placenta

A deteriorating placenta, towards the ends of pregnancy. As the placenta ages, it is less capable of supplying oxygen and nutrients to the fetus. After 42 weeks of pregnancy, the placenta is not able to handle the demands of pregnancy and it is crucial that the baby be delivered. Synonym(s): Placental Deterioration
