Charles John Huffam Dickens, one of the most famous English Victorian era authors, who wrote numerous highly acclaimed novels including his most autobiographical David Copperfield was born at 13 Mile End Terrace, Portsmouth (now the Dickens Birthplace Museum) on Friday, 7th February, 1812. He had his share of critics like Virginia Woolf and Henry James, but also many admirers, even into the 21st Century. read more
